Time Signs.

The beginning:

Roadford Resevoir

Roadford Reservoir, the site where Time Signs was filmed.

In 1988 producer Tim Taylor invited Mick Aston to work on a series of four programmes for Channel 4 called Time Signs which eventually was broadcasted in 1991. Each episode was 30 minutes long.

Produced and directed by Time Team series producer Tim Taylor, they were presented by Mick Aston, who also suggested Phil Harding to do some reconstruction archaeology.

Phil Harding:

"They were all filmed at the Roadford Reservoir, Devon. Each episode merely dealt with a separate period working back from present day to the prehistoric, to tell the story of the valley".

Already being involved with Time Signs, Mick Aston was able to choose the rest of the Time Team members. "I had already made 'Time Signs' with the producer Tim Taylor and from those four half hour films we developed 'Time Team'.
